A teenager realizing it was time to get off his butt and get to work.

Did that teenager heed your advice and climb other rock formations - on the bottom of the ocean?

thinking bout life

Buzz Kill: Yes sir, he did.

Becca: Well yes, getting on with it. In an honorable way.

Great image and haiku, sir.

I went on a rafting trip on the Green River in Utah some years back, and one of the guides said his father had posted this sign in the kitchen during his youth, for him and his seven siblings: "If you're over eighteen, keep your hands out of my damn refrigerator."

Karl said...

Czar: Thank you. The father of your guide was a wise man. By 18 years old you should be able to fend for yourself. I was 16 when I moved out of my parents house. The few times, I moved back in with them, I was charged rent for room and board.

I must admit by the time this photograph was taken my decision had been made. As a result of poor choices on my part, I had found myself in the position of being days away from a paycheck with no money to buy food. After getting off work, went to a supermarket and asked the manager if I could work for food. He agreed and so I swept up and cleaned. And decided I would never find myself in that position again. Decision made.

Ah, yes .. That moment...
I had a similar moment. Perhaps we all did.

It is still fun though to get out in those wilds at times and pretend there is nary a problem out there.

Great haiku, great photo ..

hmnnn..that musta been ancient history. It doan fit with the Karl we all know--but then, motivation can change the board a bit, huh?

Luv the pic.

Karl said...

Diana: May I suggest that moment would be in interesting topic for a post.

Chickory: Your welcome. Considering the alternative, it wasn't a bad day.

Aunty Belle: Yes ma'am it was. Just about 34 years. Feeding oneself and ensuring you owe no one for the privilege are powerful motivators.

just wanted to pop in and say congrats on your win
