Good Morning Karl,

Popular subject for haiku in the land of the (late) rising sun.

Honorable Master: Yes, I imagine it would be.

Happy Solstice .....

Is it Good Solstice, Happy Solstice or Merry Solstice - pick your favorite? And it's almost a new moon, so the patrols won't see you snake through the barbed wired.

Heh, Buzz is back. Too bad he wasn't here for the Karl Meme.

Merry Solstice to you, señor. May you and Mrs. Karl (I suppose we should now call her The Most Interesting Woman in the World :o) ) enjoy the holiday in whatever way you celebrate.

Thus sealing your legendariness again with a Haiku on a Thursday - during a holiday no less!

now the days get longer. seed catalogs beckon.

Karl said...

BlazngScarlet: Hope your recovery is progressing well so that you can fully enjoy the holidays.

Buzz Kill: Good to see you, Sir. I prefer, Happy Solstice.

May you, the Mrs. and the boys have a fine holiday.

Boxer: Yes, he's a barrel of laughs.

Serendipity: A haiku for me, thank you!

Aunty Belle: Haiku is not a chore it's a pleasure. Keeps my mind busy and my body out of trouble.

Merry Christmas to you.

Señora Moi: If not the most interesting, certainly the most patient. I'm sure Buzz would've added to y'alls good time.

All the best of the season to you and SB.

Chickory: I'm not nearly as busy as you are for the holidays. Although I did actually go inside 3 retail stores this year. Stepping up to help the Mrs. K with shopping. It was a most excruciating experience.

You have the perfect attitude. Look forward to spring.

Hi Karl! Makes me want to go to Stonehenge and become a druid for a day. Hope you and yours have a Merry Merry Christmas.

Karl said...

Pam: Stonehenge is a favorite place. I get a most interesting feeling of history, when there. The solstice would not be a day to attend. Too many people. Hope you and your full house had happy Yule and have a Merry Christmas.

Jean said...

You've been to Stonehenge? Not a world idler, you.

Lovely haiku, Karl.

Very Merry Christmas to you and yours, sir.

Ever hear the joke about how many druids it takes to screw in a light bulb? I'm not repeating it you'll have to look it up. Merry Christmas. I've been having probs with my blog. If you were going to enter a haiku. the topic is sweet and the post is right below my Christmas pics or if you hit older posts it will pop up. It's Christmas night here and I feel like a roadie for the trans Siberian orchestra. I'll be so glad when I have everything put away and cleaned up.

Hope all is merry an'bright aboard the good ship Fair!

Jean: Thank you, hope you enjoyed a fine holiday.

If you ever have the opportunity, a visit to Stonehenge would not be a waste of your time.

Foam: We celebrate both solstice and the equinox's. They help to measure time in a way that no clock can.

Chickory: Thank you. Happy new year to you.

Princess: Nice to see you sir. Hope you had a pleasant holiday and it wasn't too hot. All the best to you in the coming year.

Serendipity: Thank you and to you and yours.

Wasn't likely as blue or as bright, however I was walking around in shirtsleeves, until the front passed through. Certainly nothing to complain about.

Curmudgeon: One could make a career out of reading light bulb jokes and there seems to be so many hits on the Internet the several people must. A Merry Christmas to you. You made a wise choice.

Aunty Belle: Yes it is, we had a fine holiday.

Congratulations on your Haiku win!

Aunty Belle said...

Thanky Sir Fair. New Haiku topic posted on Front Porch.

I was reading your comments on the love boat disaster. I have only worn swimming dry suits. They are nothing more than neoprene with a slick coating. Extremely close fitting, easily torn and very fragile, but buoyant. I assume other dry suits have a sturdier covering. I cant imagine how they would keep you from getting contaminated. What is different with diving dry suit construction?

Karl said...

Curmudgeon: There are many different types of dry suits. When diving in contaminated water, the level of contamination dictates the type of suit. Most SAR divers are concerned with Bio-hazards and petroleum products. Often the hazard level is low for them. They tend to use commercial grade neoprene or tri-laminate dry suits with full face masks. If the contamination at the ship was any worse they would not have been wearing scuba outfits, even with full face masks. For that type of work scuba is inherently dangerous. Rebreathers or surface supplied equipment is better for the application. Few SAR divers have training in this type of equipment. At higher levels of contamination, like chemical spills or water that is radiated. The dive system becomes more complex, as does the suit. You can look of a few different types of dry suits here. Hope you find this helpful.

Darn! Some of those look bullet proof. Cordura even. Probably still wouldn't want to scrap with a shark. Thanks, I was curious. Hate to do a long swim with one of those.

Karl said...

No sir, not shark proof, definitely not bulletproof. I've seen guys destroy $2000 worth of suit in a single dive.
