Movie clip Wednesday: Best Drunk Movie Scene

Howdy it's Wednesday and we all know what that means, time to search through the living hell of YouTube and post a clip to amuse and entertain. Movie Clip Wednesday, hosted by Anonymous Boxer. If you wish to play. Post a clip on your site. Try to make it 3 minutes or less, then stop by Boxer's site say I'm up, with the title of your movie. You can also see who else is playing. And find some very interesting and differing perspectives on a single topic. The topic for this week: Best Drunk Movie. Well nobody does drunk better than The Thin Man. Unfortunately I used him the first time we did drunks. So off the search I went. And I found it quite different type of drunk, he played the part so well it won him an Oscar. Lee Marvin in Cat Ballou.  Cat Ballou is a 1965 comedy-western film which tells the story of a woman who hires a famous gunman to protect her father's ranch, and later to avenge his murder, but finds that the man she hires is not what she expected. The movie stars (Hanoi) Jane Fonda, Lee Marvin,  Michael Callan, Dwayne Hickman, and singers Nat King Cole and Stubby Kaye, who together perform the movie's theme song. This movie had a lot of chemistry that made it very funny and made Marvin's drunk portrayal a classic. For your enjoyment, Cat Ballou.

I will likely be a bit slow to reply to comments. So y'all have fun.

The plot of this movie seems very similar to True Grit? I just realize that. I remember seeing this is the theater and not really understanding the drunk scene. Years later I watched it on cable and realized why Lee Marvin was nominated for an Oscar. Nice pick (as usual)

Happy MCW. Thanks for playing this week!

Lee Marvin played a great drunk in Paint your Wagon as well. I think he was a marine and tough as hell. I thought about you this past week. Had my ranch folks at the house for 10 days. Watched two great movies. "Laura" which was excellent. And "The Grass is Always Greener" which I thind could get into my top 50. Happy MCW.

Lee Marvin is another one of those actors (like Dennis Hopper and Mickey Rourke) where you wonder if they realize they're in a movie. Good color choice today.

Happy MCW!

Good Morning Karl,

I can usually count on you to pick a movie I'VE ACTUALLY SEEN. Yay!
Great choice. Movie would have sucked without Lee.

Happy MSW.

Paint Your Wagon was also a musical. WORST performance ever by Clint Eastwood. But, I digress.

I'm a fan of westerns, obviously, but not much of a fan when they're set to music. I like them gritty and bloody. But Lee Marvin under any circumstances is always enjoyable to watch, and this scene is funny.

Happy MCW Señor. I hope you're being busy is a good thing and not bad.

Loved this movie when I was a kid and watched it not too long ago during one of my many sick days.

Boxer: Similar to True Grit I'll have to think of that one. He deserved the Oscar.

Thank you, for the link in your post. A simple note in your comments would have sufficed.

Pam: I nearly posted that clip just for giggles.

MRM: He played the part well in both movies. He was a Marine, a PFC and earned a Purple Heart in the Battle of Siapan. I don't believe I've seen Laura, although I enjoy most anything with Doris Day in it.

Buzz Kill: Good point and I picked color just for you.

Troll: In many ways we have similar taste, scary isn't it. You're right, it's hard to imagine another actor in the part.

Moi: Clint wasn't known for his range.

I haven't seen the movie in years, but as I remember it's all pretty funny.

Good or bad, they're billable hours.

LaDiva: Nice to see you. Sorry you weren't feeling well. Did you enjoy it as much the last time as when you were a kid?

Jackie Sue: It was a great scene and how they got the horse to lean against the building was quite a stunt. I didn't see his Oscar speech, but the horse did help a lot.

K9: If you mean john DeLorean, yes I do.

He(Cole) and Stubby help to make a movie. If you see it, I hope you enjoy it.

Roses: I think you'll like it.

All: Sorry for the slow reply and not getting around. Hope y'all enjoy your Saint Patrick's day!

Chickory: I'm not the Beekeeper I'm the Beegrunt. Mrs. K is the knowledgeable ones on the subject. We will set up the hives on the piece of land where we keep our garden. The Bees are supposed to arrive in the first week of April. It should be interesting, although I don't think it's going to be as easy as raising Oyster's. One of our other "hobbies".

Foam: Yes, he did and it was fun to watch.

Bee-keeping? How did I miss that? My spousal unit wants to start keeping bees. Let me know how it goes . . .

Really liked your haikus today, by the way. I didn't comment in Czar's blog because he's blind judging.

Moi: You haven't missed anything, I'm sure it's going to be a good subject for discussion. If SB's interested you should really look into it. There's a dire need for a good Bee population in this country.

Thank you! Your opinion means a lot to me.
