Happy 4th of July!

Good afternoon folks,

Y'all are likely busy, so I'll make this brief. Have a safe and happy 4th of July. Keep in mind the reason for the celebration.

And remember:

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people,
it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government
-- lest it come to dominate our lives and interests."

- Patrick Henry

Hazy, hot, humid.
As it was then, as is now.
Motivates freedom.

Find a whiff a cool air, an' sing America the Beautiful.

Patrick Henry was prescient--how come none of these new style polly-ticians is as wise or far-seeing?

Becca: To you and your family, a most enjoyable holiday.

Aunty Belle: Cool air will likely be scarce. However the song in my heart is always there.

Their far sightedness ends at their wallets.

And I believe it was Ben Franklin who said “The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.”

Looks like you're well on your way Karl.

Best idea anyone ever had for a country, that's for sure. Too bad the politicians keep mucking it up. Happy Fourth anyway. Looks like you're relaxing in style!

Karl,

Looks like you had a nice place to celebrate! Belatedly, happy 4th. Great quote. Those guys really thought about governance and freedoms in those days.

We need to fire MOST of Congress and the President! Our Forefathers were wise, we as a growing group of sheep, are not! Why?? Have we become stupid in a generation?

Don't forget Haiku Monday tomorrow at http://serendipitouswildmoments.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/haiku-monday-theme-is-the-skull/

The theme is skull - any way you look at it.

Good evening All,

It was indeed a fine 4th of July. Most of it however, was spent inland visiting family and friends. We were lucky enough to get back to the boat in time to watch the fireworks at Annapolis, Sandy Point, Chesapeake Beach, and from many of the folks around our harbor. You could literally get a neck ache from turning to watch the displays launch. I gave it up at 22:00, because I had to leave by 05:00. All was quiet around midnight. The family enjoyed the rest of the show.

Thank you all for your sentiments, on what is this nation's most important holiday.

My apologies for the tardiness in a reply.

@Foam:Is that not what this country is based upon, excepting legal imports as our own?

Sure, or course! I think I was drinking some kind of British Ale myself this 4th of July!
