Pam: It was a good ceremony. A funeral at Arlington is like nowhere else. We placed their wedding rings in the niche with them. A celebration of their lives and love.
A salute to your father for his service to this country and a graceful bow to your mother who raised a family and waited long nights for her soldier to come home. Nice that they're together in such a great place in Arlington Autumn.
Wif' Pam--a li'l teary. Thank you for sharing this wif' us, Karl. Very touchin'.
Thar's a fine site at Arlington whar' the Daughters of the Confederacy left a timeless message:
Not for fame or reward Not for place or for rank Not lured by ambition Or goaded by necessity But in simple Obedience to duty As they understood it These men suffered all Sacrificed all Dared all-and died
Yore Daddy an Mama lie in honored company, a beautiful credit to our nation.
All: Thank you, so much for the kind sentiments. They truly were a fine couple. Open minded and caring, there was a place of their table for anyone. They smiled, they sang, they danced and debated. All who spoke yesterday mentioned, what a fun and unique couple they were.
Aunty Belle: Very nice of you to say. You would have had fun. It was a big round marble thing. Hard to stain and easy to clean. So important when dealing with pasta or personalities.
What a beautiful tribute to some people I would like to have known. They sound so like my own parents, you have inspired me to think I need to write one for them, too. At 88 they are still with us, so now is the perfect time. Thanks for your inspiration.

That. Is. Great. Haiku. The second line needs a "The" to make it 7 mora but it's still great.
(Dabs a little tear) ... happy anniversary to Karl's mom and dad!
Troll: Thank you Sir. Fixed it.
