Happy Halloween!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

For those of you that are into ghosts, a poem:

All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses. Through the open doors
The harmless phantoms on their errands glide,
With feet that make no sound upon the floors.

We meet them at the door-way, on the stair,
Along the passages they come and go,
Impalpable impressions on the air,
A sense of something moving to and fro.

There are more guests at table than the hosts
Invited; the illuminated hall
Is thronged with quiet, inoffensive ghosts,
As silent as the pictures on the wall.

The stranger at my fireside cannot see
The forms I see, nor hear the sounds I hear;
He but perceives what is; while unto me
All that has been is visible and clear.
[...]

So from the world of spirits there descends
A bridge of light, connecting it with this,
O'er whose unsteady floor, that sways and bends,
Wander our thoughts above the dark abyss.

From "Haunted Houses" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Good Morning Karl,

Hope you're enjoying the day. It appears that this site is set-up in a way which prevents ghosts from commenting.

I love this and have many times wondered about the people who have lived in my house.... and I realy believe my basement is "haunted"... or as I like to say, we have houseguests from time to time.

Happy Halloween to you and Mrs. Karl. Do you get trick/treaters on a boat? and, is your boat haunted?

this house is not haunted - no one died here. but the woods...that is a different matter. indians, civil war soldiers, wayward hikers...maybe. Have a happy halloween. ooooooooooooooooooooooo

Troll: yes sir I am. A little German chocolate cake to celebrate later. I thought open ID allowed ghosts to comment, perhaps not.

I'm hoping all the procedures, today went well.

Boxer: and to you and Mr. Boxer. Has he bagged anything yet? No we don't even with JackOlanterns lit and decorations hung no one stops by. Walking down 450 feet of dock for a candy bar is more than most trick or treaters are willing to go for. However the town is a "destination" folks come from all over the county trick or treat here. The streets are safe and treats with glow in the dark necklaces are given away at the town hall. It's a fun time walking the streets and visiting folks in town. If it is they're likely the ghosts of my past.

Chickory: Our town was established in the 1600's. There are 3 cemeteries and numerous family plots around town. There are more dead here than living. So I know what you mean. Happy Halloween to you!

Mr. Boxer came home with many bottles of bourbon strapped to the hood of his car.

Happy Halloween, Señor!

BTW, I think there's more dead than living everywhere :o)

Hi Karl! Happy post-Halloween to you. Would love to see pics of your residence all decked out for Halloween. Decked out! Get it? Ha. Love the poem. Have to admit that I've never lived in a house where someone has died. But it makes me wonder about my mom/dad's house where they both passed away. I hope they are friendly ghosts if they are still hanging around over there!

Boxer: Nothing like bringing home the boundy of a successful hunt;)

Buenos Tardes Señora Moi:
Buen Dia de los Muertos para.

Your probably right and with a living population of only 350, it's not too hard to get out numbered. We do pack them in tight here. A town is 1/2 mile wide by mile long. More than 1/4 of that is pasture or park.

Pam: Good pictures for the low light challenge we never got around to. You know with jokes like that you should be on the stage and there's one leaving in about 15 minutes. "Ba-dump bump"

You know, I don't think I've ever lived in a house someone has passed away in or boat for that matter.

Hope you have a fun Halloween.
