Movie clip Wednesday: Comic strip turned into a movie.

Welcome to movie clip Wednesday this week's topic: Comic strip turned into a movie. Hosted by the lovely Joanna Cake. If you care to play find a clip try to make it less than 3 minutes and go by Joanna's site and tell her you're up.

Plenty of material for this week's go around. Blondie and Dagwood Movies fit for week. Blondie (played by Penny Singleton) was the beautiful, neighborly housewife. Dagwood (played by Arthur Lake) was always getting into trouble with either Blondie or his boss JC Dithers. He was best known for building those double-decker sandwich monstrosities that no human being could possibly get his mouth around. If you remember back a ways, I used this sandwich for a culinary smackdown. (it was quite tasty) They made 28 films, obviously it was a good combination for making money. I hope you enjoy the clip. I may be slow to reply to comments as I'm back on the road tomorrow.

I've never seen one of these movies, but I remember the cartoon strip and I think this is a really good theme this week. 28 films? Wow.

Safe travels!

It must be a US thing because I'd never heard of them, either as a movie or a cartoon but I do love a double decker door stop sandwich so if that's where they came from... :)

Boxer: I've seen many of them, very predictable. Still read the cartoon.

It's been an interesting trip. Four wheel drives, boats and helicopters. But yes ma'am, I'll keep it safe. That's why I'm here.

Joanna:Yes it's a U.S. thing It was depression era humor.

My version of the sandwich can be found here: http://karlkorner.blogspot.com/2010/08/culinary-smackdown-sandwiches_23.html not likely on Ruf's menu.
