Movie Clip Wednesday: Most overrated movie

Well folks it's time for another weekly installment of Movie Clip Wednesday, hosted by Milk River Madman If you wish to play. Post a clip on your site. Try to make it 3 minutes or less, then stop by MRM's site say I'm up, with the title of your movie. You can also see who else is playing. And find some very interesting and differing perspectives on a single topic. The topic for this week: Most overrated movie. I chose Avatar. It's in color, its modern and it's a piece a crud.  Mrs. Karl and I went to see this on a rare movie date. The sound was way too loud. The 3-D glasses were filthy, and that was just the start. I find 3-D is highly overrated. And the sound effects were off time, the Helo's they cruised around in had 2 rotors, the sound affect was for one.(This really bugged me) Plus they used "unobtanium". Even the Mrs. was taken aback when she heard it "they're using your element" she said. We use the word for years at work, when describing something we cannot find. We heard it was great, neither of us thought so. We won't be watching the 2 planed sequels. It must be something about  James Cameron. Hope you enjoy the clip.

Wait, this was in 3-D? I just saw it on HBO last month and I felt it was overrated at the time I watched it. The story line is pretty lame but the CGI was good. Sigourney Weaver did look good in blue though.

But the big thing here is - this movie was in COLOR. Bwahahaha

Happy MCW!

Agreed. Uh huh...think thas' 'xactly why we missed it. I'se good wif' special effects to aid a movie whar' the effects are the embellishment, not the entree.

What is it about Cameron??

i recently saw this on the satellite. its bad. you have very one dimensional characters acting out morality tales of empire vs pure natives. of course, the bad guys from earth would naturally be americans. they got the corporate greed right - but how is big hollywood any different? the heavy handed thread about screwing over the environment is a joke -wanna guess how big a footprint a big ass production like this leaves? theyd kill the tree of knowledge to cater the tech crew if they had to. and how about that bit about catching those big flying things and making it be your flying slave. just because you hook it to your psychic tale doesnt make it any less of a captive. and then there is the 3D. i saw it on tv so i dont know -but i heard that it made a lot of people sick at the theatre.

great choice. i didnt know there were sequels but of course there would be. Ive seen all i need to of the blue things.

happy MCW

Hey, we blog jinxed! Avatar replaced Terms of Endearment as my all time most overrated flick and Eyes Wide Shut as my all time worst movie ever. Two purposes in one. That in itself should make it great, but it's not. Happy MCW!

Buzz Kill: Yes it was and it was. I found the plot totally lame. I guess the graphics were good quality, but for me it's too much flash, bang, switch point of view, I find it irritating. As for Sigourney Weaver, when she was blue why didn't she have 6 breasts, they're cats right?

I've done color before, you just forget.

Auntie Belle: Very good point on special effects.

K9: Well in Hollyweird eyes we Americans are the bad guys. I never will understand why they do that. I would bet that it look better without the 3D than with it, it didn't make us sick, but it wasn't worth the hassle of the glasses. The glasses in the theater had supposedly been cleaned and then rebagged. There were smudges and fingerprints all over them, to my mind it was worse than flying.

Princess: Sir, you got that right.

MRM: You didn't miss much. Someday when I grow up, I'd like to be able to make a point the way K9 does.

Jackie Sue: The whole message of the movie bothered me. I paid money for it, so I was pissed.

Joanna: If you're going to watch, it rent a DVD. Commercials would make it totally unbearable.

Moi: I can't think of better person a jinx with and for such a good cause.

Troll: A wise choice.

Pam: I loved your smurf analogy.

Boxer: Yes, I saw it.

So was the vodka fountain plugged in last night? I seem to have read something about favorite Christmas movie;)

Heff: It was a disappointment, that's for sure.
