Movie Clip Wednesday on Tuesday

Anonymous Boxer's is our host, her choice for this week is: Oscar Winners. I'm not a fan of award shows, so this was a little tough.(Wasted half the bloody day looking at clip's) I kept thinking where do I begin then it came to me. The beginning. So I give you two clips from the movie Wing's the first best picture. A silent picture with lots of action and some pretty impressive stunts.

Remember tomorrow is The Pepperoni Culinary Throw Down hosted by Kym. So get your sausages ready and may the best Blogger win.

We watched this in a film class in college and I remember thinking how well done the stunts were. It's amazing, really, to watch these early silents and to see how far we've come technologically, but how the basics of a good story never changes.

Moi: So true, a good story line can make a movie in ways special effects never can.

Nowadays this would all be done with a computer. Great entry and I'm glad to see a true classic. *sigh* Gary Cooper. What a man.

You and Moi make a good point about how a good story is better than all of the tricks.

Happy MCW!

Wow, never seen this nor would have dreamed it would be posted. I bet the stunts were state-of-the-art in their day. And yes to the Gary Cooper ;) Happy MCW (on Tuesday)

Boy, they didn't waste any time clearing out cadet White's stuff did they. The 1st best picture. I never even considered what that was until now.

Happy MCW!

Boxer: Back then it was grit and guts.

Pam: Yes, they were state of the art, a new and dangerous one. According to Wikipedia, two pilots died during the filming.

Buzz Kill: Gary Cooper's appearance was slightly better than a cameo.

Gary Cooper .... *sigh*

They just don't make films like this anymore!
A true classic, and what a fabulous pick!
