Nice theme there Mr. Wizard. I'm not an electrical engineer but I know some things. I've actually seen conductors as big as the ones in the 2nd pic (actually cut them with a sawz all - intentionally because I lived to tell about it).

Happy MM!

Cool stuff. I used to know a little about superconductors and such. A little.

Happy Mute Monday!

yup, I totally knew you'd go in this direction and I'm sure you'll like K9's too.

Great photos and a good pick.

Happy MM!

Karl,
I love the sleak, fizzy monorail. Is that an electro-magnito, levitating monorail? Applied science at some of it's best .... benefits to mankind rather than the destruction of mankind.

you left out shock treatment headgear. grrrherhahahaha - science! i love it. happy MM!

And if they ever make it work, we're home free. I think? Happy Mute Monday!

Buzz Kill: Thanks, sounds like the shocking experience. Hope they didn't fit the old saying "any wire cut to fit will be too short".

In the second shot, the conductors on the right are capable of handling the same amount of current as the ones on the left.

Troll: Cool indeed, if they can just get them to work at room temperature. I would like to learn more about them. Have you actually work with superconductors?

Boxer: Hmm, I'm getting predictable I'll have to work on that. I did enjoy K9's.

Fishy: Yes, it is a Maglev. It runs on superconductors that use nitrogen instead of helium for cooling. Sciences is science. How it is applied well that's another story. The same technology is being used in an experimental rail gun. It fires its warheads without a propellant charge.

Moi: well, it sure would reduce the need for more power plants.

K9: No, I didn't. I keep it private for home recreation Mawahahahah

Jaque Sue: Yes, they are just a little above absolute zero.

Joanna: Thank you, 4 times over;)
