Welcome to movie clip Wednesday this week's topic: Woman dressing up like a man. Hosted by the lovely Joanna Cake. If you care to play find a clip try to make it less than 3 minutes and go by Joanna's site and tell her you're up.
My word this was a hard one. I've already used Victor Victoria on a previous post and I don't like to use movies I haven't seen. When using the search engines, I was amazed at how often the search term woman dressing like a man would be reversed to man dressing like a woman. There's obviously a huge imbalance between the former and the latter. Anyway back to the topic. I have seen this movie, I just don't remember much about it. Which is a little strange in that I've always enjoyed movies with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in them. She was a fine actress and could make anyone she starred with look good. But her chemistry with Grant made for some truly fine films. Bringing up Baby, I believe to be the best of the bunch.
This week's Movie is: Sylvia Scarlett a 1935 romantic comedy, it was notorious as one of the most famous unsuccessful movies of the 1930s. Hepburn plays the title role, a female con artist masquerading as a boy to escape the police. Please enjoy!

Doesnt she make a brilliant boy! Great clip Karl!! Im thinking my embedding skills may well be because my second clip has had embedding deleted in between my posting it and you trying to watch. It would have been Yentl... :(
Oh I have never seen this! Grant an' Hepburn--wow.
Kate wuz always a fan of boy dressin'--one of the first to wear more pants than frocks. An' while Grant is yummy, her heart belonged to Tracy.

Wow, have never heard of this, but she is just an all time fave. Hope all is well in Karl world. Are you doing the low light photo challenge?
P.S. She looks strangely like David Bowie.
Chicks kissing - you can't go wrong there. Even as a boy, a young Katharine Hepburn is hot. I just wish she tried to disguise her voice a little better.
Happy MCW!
I have nothing.
Bwahahahaha to Karl. Katherine Hepburn was the bomb but that voice was SO ANNOYING! Never seen this and I thought I'd seen everything she was in. Thanks for giving me something to scout out!
Troll: Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about.
Joanna: Yes, doesn't she. I understand, still I think it's neat the way you can stack them together.
Aunty Belle: You're right about the pants, but she never looked like a man in them.
Pam: She was a favorite of mine as well. I can't think of a modern actress that can hold a candle to her.
Life in Karl world is fine. Like you, busy. I have some shots I just never got around to posting them. You're right about David Bowie.
Buzz Kill: I wonder how they got that past the censors? Hot yes, seen my comment to Pam.
BamaTrav: ♫ I've got rhythm, I got music, I've got my gal, who could ask for anything more! ♪♫
Moi: I agree with you on the voice, it may be part of why the film did so poorly. You're welcome.
Who new there was Kate and Cary? I didnt. this was a hard challenge. VV of course is the first thought...but then there was shakespeare in love, and of course im sure a favorite of yours, Yentl
