Movie clip Wednesday: Period Drama

Welcome to movie clip Wednesday this week's topic: Period Drama. Hosted by the lovely Joanna Cake. If you care to play find a clip try to make it less than 3 minutes and go by Joanna's site and tell her you're up.

I had to look this topic up to make sure I understood it correctly. After doing so I understand why Buzz Kill chose this week to be on vacation. It fits with his particularly interesting sense of humor. Most of the films that seem to fit this topic are not my cup of tea. Then I happened upon this one: John Adams is a 2008 American television miniseries chronicling most of President John Adams's political life and his role in the founding of the United States. Paul Giamatti portrays John Adams. Laura Linley portrays Abigail Adams. And the film doesn't quite credible job of showing the relationship between the two. We watch this on a DVD borrowed from a friend of mine and though it is a long film (8 hours) it really is worth watching. Please enjoy.

Karl, I dont know huge amounts about American history but I remember that I really wanted to see this, the trailers looked very good indeed. Sadly, its timing didnt fit in with my schedule. Must put it on my LoveFilm list. Great pick and thank you for playing!

Joanna: The movie was quite long, as I remembered it took us two weeks to get through it. From a historical point of view is a very good representation as to what caused the revolution. If you have the opportunity to watch it on a DVD, I think you would enjoy it. Particularly the interaction between John and Abigail. You're welcome, always a pleasure.

Thst was a good choice Karl . I didn't view the clip because of very limited wifi access, but I did see the movie and Paul Giamatti did a very decent job with the character. I might have chosen Johnny Depp's The Libertine had I played this week. And I probably won't play next week either.

We're up at Lake George in NY and I'm typing this in a gazebo right 5 feet from the water. Lots to do up here and the Mrs means for us to do it all. Tomorrow is white water rafting day.

Happy MCW!

Buzz Kill: You choose two topics and then go on vacation? And now I'm detailed with taking up the slack, Gee thanks. You are in a beautiful area, lots to do on the water and so much surrounding history in the area. Enjoy your well deserved break.

Roses: Remember "42" it's the answer to everything. Waves back.

K9: Thinking of today's leaders generally makes me feel a bit be ill.

I understand it's a busy time of the year. Pam just put up a new topic, perhaps start with this month.

Moi: Glad you liked it. I always look forward to what you come up with.

Aunty Belle: Howdy to you. I will look for the book, it was a very interesting time for Adams Franklin and Jefferson.

I hope all is well with Uncle and I'm am sure, that with a nurse of your caliber he is receiving the best of care.

All: Sorry for the slow reply, it has been a busy week. I hope you all have a SAFE and Happy 4th of July celebration! Except of course for you two Brits, who don't likely celebrate the occasion.
