Milk River Madman is our host he may not want the job but he's stuck with it. Anonymous Boxer is on hiatus since her revelations in the woods of Georgia. If you wish to play. Post a clip on your site. Try to make it 3 minutes or less, then stop by MRM's site say I'm up, with the title of your movie. You can also see who else is playing. The topic for this week is: Disney. A company that is turned into the great Satan of marketing to children. For this one I chose 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. You knew this is what I would pick, didn't you? It was a 1954 adventure film starring Kirk Douglas as Ned Land, James Mason as Captain Nemo, Paul Lukas as Professor Pierre Aronnax, and Peter Lorre as Conseil. It was the first science fiction film produced by Walt Disney Pictures, as well as the only science-fiction film produced by Walt Disney himself. It was also the first feature length Disney film to be distributed by Buena Vista Distribution. The film has become the best-known adaptation of the book of the same name by Jules Verne.

LOL... I was wishing that Buzz had put up something from 20000 Leagues and, moments later, my wish is fulfilled! Ta muchly, Karl :)
I read your book Karl. I knew you would do this movie...which is the only reason why I didn't. Great movie and I liked the ride at Disney World too - when I was a kid of course. Say what you will about Disney (and I see that you already have, Bwahaha) but they have some of the best adventure movies. This one being at the top of the pile. Great (predictable - Bwahahaha) choice.
Happy MCW!
I loved the book and the movie..remember going to Base movie and seeing it with my Dad and being afraid ole Kirk was going to be 'et by the octopus. Scary stuff.
Joanna: Fulfilling your wishes could be a lot of fun.
Buzz Kill: I'm becoming predictable and my old age, I'll have to work on that.
I agree with you that Disney has made some of the best movies for children ever. Even as an adult I still enjoy seeing movies like Mary Poppins or the Swiss Family Robinson. Yet now, they don't produce any movies without a product line for toys and shirts and video games and a ton of crud, that children don't need. I believe that all the excessive marketing to children is wrong.
Jackie Sue: They were treasures, both to read and watch. Base movie's, did you have the 25¢ matinee? My brother and I had so much fun on Saturdays watching B movies at the base theater.
of course of course!!
How perfect for you Karl. ya knows DW is practically mah backyard, so I has been on the ride a few times--30 years ago it was amazin'--ain't tried it in last 25 years, so mayhap thar's been updatin'.
What does BuzzK mean, "read yore book"?
HappyMCW!
Aunty Belle: My grandmother's house was so close to Disneyland in California, we could watch the fireworks every night, when visiting. I haven't been there since I was in my teens. I went to Orlando once. But I think the magic was lost and I won't be back.
He means I'm getting predictable. I need to stir the pot and get something new to float up.
So how was your hike? You took a lot of pictures, I hope?
Wow. The last time I saw that movie, I was wearing a polyester suit !
Heff: Say it ain't so, I have a hard time with the image of you in a polyester suit.
oh I loved the matinees..on Saturdays for a thin dime you could watch cartoons all day long, and the serial movies..tarzan, lone ranger, boma of the jungle..oh man..daddy would give me a $ and could have candy, popcorn, etc. and then run next door to the food stand and get hotdogs and cokes..sigh*
