Movie clip Wednesday: Best Buddies

Milk River Madman is our host and doing a fine job at it. If you wish to play. Post a clip on your site. Try to make it 3 minutes or less, then stop by MRM's site say I'm up, with the title of your movie. You can also see who else is playing. The topic for this week is: Best Buddies. I can think of so many; Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello and I've used Crosby and Hope before. Plus there's that whole black and white or color thing. Then I remembered a series of movies, the characters were true buddies. Lethal Weapon and its 3 sequels was based on the relationship between these two buddies. Homicide detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) is partnered with young and suicidal narcotics officer Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson). For the clip I chose one from Lethal Weapon 2. Hope you enjoy it. The clip has been messed with a little, I couldn't find the unedited version.

Wow. I was totally expecting a Hope/Crosby or Lewis/Martin clip. Loved all of them. Danny Glover has gone off the deep end politically and Mel just off the deep end all around.

Happy MCW

I was so close to choosing this film too. It's such a shame that their recent real life performances may mean that their body of work becomes less valuable.

You know, I still love Mel just a bit. I think he might bounce back from all the bad drama. But didn't we all just love these movies? Even the sequels were fun. Great choice. Happy MCW!

I remember when I saw Mel Gibson in TIM an Australian movie, thinking he was the best looking guy ever and was really a good actor. I have enjoyed all of his movies but his behavior has just turned me off. He's batshit crazy and Danny Glover is a close second. I'm afraid no one will ever hire either one of them no matter how good they are, because of their behavior.sad

mel is a victim of megalomania as a result of being rich rich rich and having his ass kissed all the time. it took a fat lipped russian sexpot to bring him down. grrherhahahaha. poor bloke. you can hear the "ive been set up and had" in his broken voice in those "leaked" phone recordings.

but lethal weapon was a terrific franchise. I still think the first was the best. But i loved the slick south african boogie men. joe pecshi ruins it for me though. i hated his character in LW. Kind of like the ewoks in stars wears. are you kidding me? teddy bears?

happy MCW

MRM: I had planned to use the Peter Sellers scene from The Road to Hong Kong. I'm trying not to be too predictable.

Joanna: I really don't pay attention to what Hollywood people do. So I had the look up some of the stuff you guys are referencing. And you're right it may affect how their work is viewed in the future.

Pam: That's just it, I only see what I've seen in the films and I found them entertaining.

Jackie Sue: I find your assessment entirely correct. After researching, from y'alls comments they both are indeed crazy.

K9: I don't understand the fat lip attraction, I find them a bit repropulsive.

I agree with you on Joe Pesci, his voice grates on me.

Heff: From what I've read this evening, about these two, I'll bet you're right. A wac job to the left and a wac job to the right.

K9: That should have been repulsive.

Who's editing this column anyway?

Road Warrior was IMHO Mel's best flick. Mostly because he was so ding dang gorgeous in it. What happened? K9 hit the nail on the head. He's too young to stay ruined, though; I hope he bounces back, even if he does leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Happy MCM, SeƱor Karl!

Alright Karl! Way to go out of your normal movie scope. I think you surprised the Madman too. I haven't seen the toilet scene in quite some time and I forgot Joe Pesci was in this. But a good cop type buddy movie.

Happy MCW!

Moi: Of his movies that I've seen, I think Patriot is one of his best works. Although I remember enjoying Road Warrior.

Buzz Kill: Every now and then you gotta do something a little different. You would have to be a real buddie to be in the bathroom, when that pressure switch was released. C4 has a det rate over 26,000 feet per second, neither one of them would've made the bathtub.

missed the mcw, but stoppin' by to make shure ain't no goblins got'cha.

Aunty Belle: Nope, no goblins got me. Had to work part of the weekend and didn't get to make my Halloween Post. But otherwise it was a good time. Hope you got to play lots of tricks and received some tasty treats.
