Milk River Madman is our host he may not want the job but he's stuck with it. Anonymous Boxer is on hiatus since her revelations in the woods of Georgia. If you wish to play. Post a clip on your site. Try to make it 3 minutes or less, then stop by MRM's site say I'm up, with the title of your movie. You can also see who else is playing. The topic for this week is: Best black and white movie. Most of my favorite movies are black and white. I really think that they did a better job of making movies in the days of black and white. There are so many excellent films who was hard to choose. I went with the creature from the black lagoon because of the underwater photography. Some of the shots were excellent quality.
Creature from the Black Lagoon is a 1954 monster horror film directed by Jack Arnold, and starring Richard Carlson, Julia Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno, and Whit Bissell. The eponymous creature was played by Ben Chapman on land and Ricou Browning in underwater scenes. The film was released in the United States on March 5 1954. I hope you enjoy it.
If you haven't been by The Boobie-Thon there's still time. Stop by and show your support.

Hi Karl...I remember this one from the underwater shots. It made me want to try scuba diving. They were of great quality given the period.
I thought the monster swimming underneath her was the creepiest thing that I had seen, until Jaws arrived...
Happy MCW.
You know Karl, I noticed that all your favorite movies are in black and white. Just how old are you? Bwahahaha I remember seeing this as a kid and hadn't really thought about it since, until now. And I'm with Princess on the creature swimming under Julie Adams although I would probably do the same if I could. I probably wouldn't be welcomed back to the community pool.
Happy MCW!
Ooooh, fun and creepy. These old horror classics are just divine. Great choice and happy MCW!
really a great old black and white..I keep thinking of all the movies they have remade..this is one that they should do..with the special effects they have now, this could be a great movie..it scared the crap out of me when i saw it.I think I was 11 when I saw it.
Princess:Did you learn to dive?
That shot was great (no bubbles)Jaws changed the water for alot of folks.
Buzz Kill: 51 on Halloween. Not too far off your age. The black and white movies didn't flash around or add gore for the sake of gore, the way newer movies do. A little synchronized swimming with Julie could be fun.
Pam: Yes, they were. they where sacry as a kid, now they're good for a grin.
Jackie Sue: There is a remake "in production" due out in 2011. It could be good or not.
Creepy and yet at the same time kind of funny. But I'd sure hate to be snagged by a creature like that. It's hard to wear high heels under water.
Happy MCW!
Moi: Try these on for size;

I think that claws would be a bigger issue.
Oh i thought you were talking about Angelo Mozilo. grherhahahaha...you meant the other creature.... i think youre right about the BW films -it was pre-CGI and everything was about suggestion and atmosphere. now its as literal as a hit on the head with a bat. OW!
great choice!
I am participating this week. my entry is Here
Classic! Such a boy movie. :-) Did you also have those creepy models of monsters as a kid? My brother did and I was always a little jealous.
I will be back soon. Promise. :-)
K9: Mozilo, now there is scary.
Boxer: Nope, no monster models.
I will look foward to it.
I agree--B& W movies are often the best--the emphasis on art without over reliance on special effects tricks.
This one is a natural choice fer a fella who lives in a boat.
We watched this one night in our 30s and laughed. The melodrama was entertain'.
Happy MCW
ooh, wonder who's going to play who?..
Aunty Belle: Sorry, I missed your comment. Yes you're right, the melodrama is quite entertaining.
Jackie Sue: You lost me on that comment, did I miss something?
